It all began in 1990 when a group of actors mounted a production of Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme by Frank McGuinness at the Crossroads Theatre in Sydney. The production was a hiit with audiences and critics alike and O'Punksky's theatre was born.
The founding members of the company are Maeliosa Stafford, John O'Hare and Patrick Dickson who share their talents of acting, directing, designing and producing. Now, as a senior player in the Indie scene, mentoring has become a significant string in the O'Punksky's bow. In 2017 Dr Hillary Ray and Alison Bradshaw have joined our board. O'Punksky's is a company rich in creativity, resilience and resourcefulness.... but, like most independent companies in the creative sector we have very little in the bank. In spite of this we have been producing work for 27 years and our passion won't allow us to be sensible and stop. Philanthropy is the life blood of theatre and we are always keen to talk with anyone who can support our work however modestly. |
