O'Punksky's theatre

Entertaining, provocative, inspiring.

It all began in 1990 when an random bunch of actors mounted a production of Frank McGuinness's Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme at the Crossroads Theatre. The production was a hit with audiences and critics and so O'Punksky's was born.
Since then we've produced plays in Australia and in overseas.

We are the longest surviving Independent Theatre Company in Sydney.
The founding directors of the company are
Maeliosa Stafford, John O'Hare and Patrick Dickson.

*** A 33 year association. ***

In 2017 the board of O'Punksky's elected
Dr Hillary Ray and Alison Bradshaw as directors.

John is currently Head of Acting at The Gaiety in Dublin.
Patrick is living in the bush working on his next project.

O'Punksky's pays tribute to our beloved friend, colleague and mentor,
Maeliosa Stafford.
Moy died suddenly and tragically in April 2023.
Moy was the heart and soul of our little company.
We can't yet put into words the loss we feel.
He was just too special.

'Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping
than you can understand.'
WB Yeats

Theatre Companies and Newspapers in Ireland and Australia published tributes many of which are still available on-line.
